It turns a written equipment or consumables plan into visible arithmetic, making it easier to find unit mistakes, package rounding, an overloaded container, or an unresolved assumption before packing.
The calculator distinguishes measured values from manufacturer-entered, authority-entered, mapped, and user-assumed values. That distinction matters because an item weighed on a scale, a stated package mass, and an expected water source do not carry the same confidence. Results therefore describe the entered plan rather than the conditions a group will encounter.
It does not prescribe calories or nutrients, address allergens or medical diets, or promise adequate nutrition or food safety. A calculator cannot see closures, wildfire or smoke, weather, water flow, contamination, trail changes, equipment damage, or individual capability.
