What Is the EV/EBITDA Calculator Used For?

The EV/EBITDA calculator divides enterprise value by EBITDA to produce one of the most widely used valuation multiples in equity research and M&A analysis.

Because it incorporates debt (through EV) and excludes the effects of financing and non-cash depreciation (through EBITDA), it allows investors to compare companies on a more apples-to-apples basis than price-to-earnings alone.

How the EV/EBITDA Multiple Is Calculated

The multiple is simply enterprise value divided by EBITDA.
