A garlic growing calculator turns bed dimensions and spacing into cloves to plant, seed weight to buy, expected harvest, and revenue. It adapts to hardneck, softneck, or elephant garlic and accounts for planting loss.

Plantable cloves = area ÷ (row spacing × clove spacing)

Seed weight (lb) = cloves ÷ cloves-per-lb

Harvest bulbs = plantable cloves × 0.9

Harvest weight = bulbs × bulb weight

How It Works

Spacing sets total plantable cloves. The calculator converts cloves to seed weight using type-specific cloves-per-pound and applies a 10% buffer for losses. Harvest assumes one bulb per surviving clove at type-specific bulb weights. Optional fields estimate seed cost and farm-stand revenue.
