Florida take-home pay in 2026
Florida has no state income tax, so the only taxes withheld from a Florida paycheck are federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare. This calculator uses the 2026 federal tax brackets, the $16,100 standard deduction for single filers ($32,200 for married couples filing jointly), and the 2026 Social Security wage base of $184,500.
It works for salaried and hourly jobs, including overtime. Switch the tax year to 2025 to check the year you are filing a return for now.
Examples
$55,000 salary, single, paid biweekly
Federal income tax is about $4,420, Social Security is $3,410 and Medicare is $798. Take-home pay is $46,373 a year, or $1,783.56 per paycheck, an effective tax rate of 15.7%.
$110,000 household salary, married filing jointly
The joint standard deduction keeps federal income tax to about $8,840. Take-home pay is $92,745 a year, or $3,567.12 every two weeks.
Minimum wage, and $18 an hour with overtime
At Florida's $15.00 minimum wage, 40 hours a week earns $31,200 a year and about $524.02 a week after taxes. At $18 an hour with five overtime hours a week at $27, gross pay is $44,460 and weekly take-home is about $728.92, or $16.20 per hour worked. Overtime may also qualify for the federal no tax on overtime deduction when you file, which paychecks do not reflect.

What Floridians pay instead of income tax
Florida relies mainly on sales and property taxes. The state sales tax is 6%, and most counties add a discretionary sales surtax on top. Property taxes are set locally; a primary residence qualifies for a homestead exemption of up to $50,000 of assessed value, and annual increases in its assessed value are capped. Homeowners insurance costs in Florida are also well above the national average, so include them when comparing a Florida salary with one elsewhere.
Estimate these costs with the sales tax calculator and the property tax estimator. Employers pay Florida reemployment tax on the first $7,000 of each employee's wages; it is not withheld from your pay. The employer payroll tax calculator shows the employer side.
Getting a closer match to your pay stub
Enter benefit deductions as annual amounts: multiply the amount on your pay stub by your number of paychecks. If your stub shows Roth 401(k) contributions, add them as post-tax deductions rather than 401(k) contributions.
Because Florida has no state tax, a gap between this estimate and your stub almost always comes from federal withholding. Review your Form W-4 with the W-4 withholding calculator, or see what a bonus check leaves you with the bonus tax calculator.
Frequently asked questions
Does Florida have a state income tax?
No. Florida does not tax wages or other personal income; Article VII, Section 5 of the Florida Constitution prohibits a personal income tax. Florida paychecks only have federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare withheld, plus any deductions you choose.
How much is $55,000 a year after taxes in Florida?
For a single filer in 2026 with no pre-tax deductions, $55,000 is about $46,373 a year after taxes, or $1,783.56 every two weeks. Federal income tax is about $4,420 and Social Security plus Medicare is $4,208.
What is the minimum wage in Florida?
$15.00 an hour from September 30, 2026, the last of the annual $1 increases approved by voters in 2020. Tipped employees must be paid at least $11.98 an hour in cash wages. Full time at $15 an hour is $31,200 a year, or about $524.02 a week after taxes for a single filer.
What taxes come out of a Florida paycheck?
Federal income tax (based on your Form W-4), Social Security at 6.2% of wages up to $184,500 in 2026, and Medicare at 1.45% of all wages, plus 0.9% Additional Medicare Tax above $200,000. Florida has no state income tax, no state disability insurance and no local income taxes.
Do Florida employees pay reemployment (unemployment) tax?
No. Florida reemployment tax is paid by employers only, on the first $7,000 of each employee’s wages a year, and is never withheld from your pay.
How much more will I take home if I move from New York to Florida?
On a $75,000 salary, a single filer keeps about $3,453 a year more in Florida than in New York, before New York City income tax, which would widen the gap. Higher-income households save more because New York’s rates rise with income. The table below compares other common states.
